Small Molecule Conference (CoSMoS 2013): Call for Abstracts

small molecule analysisDid you know that scientists have their own Olympics? Well, Method Development Olympics in small molecule analysis for sure! (To participate, sign up by April 15 and then be prepared to apply your own method development to an analytical problem defined by the conference organizing committee.)

If you are a scientist with an interest and passion for small molecule analysis, then you must have heard about the upcoming CoSMoS 2013 conference  (link to conference page) scheduled to be held this year in San Diego, California, in August? If this is the first time you are learning about this volunteer-driven event, then welcome to an amazing opportunity to share your research on small molecule analysis colleagues with the same passion as yours.

(Readers of this blog are aware that I do not blog about conferences or events but this is a special exception since in this case scientists have come together, volunteered, and financed this wonderful event for the past 10 years to share the latest knowledge among themselves. And, seriously, who can resist Olympics for Method Development?)

The conference organizers are requesting scientists to submit poster abstracts for the conference (links to page where you can submit poster abstracts). So, if you have interesting and new research you wish to share with colleagues, please submit your poster for the benefit of all!

By the way, the underlying charter for these meetings has not changed since the founding year. For the conference, the number of speakers in a session plus the number of attendees is limited to actively provide equal opportunity exchanges for participants.

There are some very interesting sessions planned but I wanted to direct your attention to the scientist’s version of crowd sourcing: Wisdom of the Crowd where you can suggest the topic or problem to be discussed and solved!

This year’s guest speaker will be Dr. Charles W. Bamforth, Anheuser-Busch Endowed Professor of Brewing Science and Chair, Department of Food Science and Technology, University of California at Davis.

Details on CoMos 2013 agenda, specifics of hotel, and so forth.
